The Show
by Kabriel Moorehead
Time opens spaces
And we create boundaries
To try to stop the present from moving to the past
Not realizing were wasting seconds just trying to make it last
Where did that young kid go
Who entered these doors full of hopes and dreams
Watched his goals catch ablaze
Only to accomplish bigger things
Guided by a inner light
We came as Romans
Destined to conquer our souls
To discover what fate really was
And show that we were ready
To climb any mountain we faced
With a calm yet sanguine grin
And a sparkle in our eyes that said
We were ready
To erase the boundaries we set as novices
To draw open the curtain that had been masking our preparation
And finally make our mark on life's canvas

POETRY: What is it about you (a sonnet from my heart) By Cheryl A. Baldwin
What is it about you that i love so much
Is it the way you grab my attention while i am hard at work
The way you softly stare into my eyes even as we eat lunch
Or is it the tenacity you have when you try to get my affection when you flirt
Why is it that when you come around me i can hardly speak
Or when you touch me with your gentle hands it feels .......sooo good
Why is it that when I walk with you anywere my knees get weak
And you protect me like I am always in the hood
Were is it that you get your beautiful sunkissed skin
And your long kinky fro
How are you able to saduce me with your saductive grin
And make me so happy that i have a heavenly glow
How are you able to keep me thinking about you with such pleasure and delight
And how do you know how to treat me just right
Is it the way you grab my attention while i am hard at work
The way you softly stare into my eyes even as we eat lunch
Or is it the tenacity you have when you try to get my affection when you flirt
Why is it that when you come around me i can hardly speak
Or when you touch me with your gentle hands it feels .......sooo good
Why is it that when I walk with you anywere my knees get weak
And you protect me like I am always in the hood

And your long kinky fro
How are you able to saduce me with your saductive grin
And make me so happy that i have a heavenly glow

And how do you know how to treat me just right
POETRY: Family By Cheryl A. Baldwin
Family what would you do without 'em
You trust 'em you doubt 'em
You laugh with 'em you cry with 'em
You'd even lie for 'em
Lord, even when we go through tough times we stick together and fight
By putting our trust in your hands and believing in you with all of our might
We also learn to fight temptation because it'll only make us stronger
And it'll make our lives a whole lot longer
My family oh my family
I will love you forever and a day
And when it your time to go i will just pray
Not for the gray skies to go away
But to thank the lord that i had a lovable family this day
You trust 'em you doubt 'em
You laugh with 'em you cry with 'em
You'd even lie for 'em
Lord, even when we go through tough times we stick together and fight
By putting our trust in your hands and believing in you with all of our might
We also learn to fight temptation because it'll only make us stronger
And it'll make our lives a whole lot longer
My family oh my family
I will love you forever and a day
And when it your time to go i will just pray
Not for the gray skies to go away
But to thank the lord that i had a lovable family this day
POETRY: Teenage Cheryl By Cheryl A. Baldwin
Boy oh boy what do i have to do today
Gotta get up, get out of the bed and pray
......for a brighter day
Gotta expidite my shower
Gotta quickly get something to eat and devour
......it down
Cuz hurry i gotta be ready in an hour
Gotta get one more look at myself before i say goodbye
Gotta make sure my lip gloss is poppin, make sure my hair look fly
.......Then sigh cuz i look gorgious!
Gotta go to school and sweep
........Through the day
Then go home and sit, relax, do my homework, play, pray
huuuuuh ........then finally ................sleep.

POETRY: Mental Freedom By Cheryl A. Baldwin
Infectious are the verses in my poetry
Interpreting the internal me
Getting my voice out to the world
Gently letting my mind go free
Redeeming my soul from ridicule and criticism
And opening my mind up to you
The attention giver
The listener
You
The message getter
The receiver of my story
And so I thank you
For being the river flowing through my veins
The
Locomotive rushing through my brain
The nice person you are to me
Interpreting the internal me
Getting my voice out to the world
Gently letting my mind go free
Redeeming my soul from ridicule and criticism
And opening my mind up to you
The attention giver
The listener

POETRY: The Undefined Me By Cheryl A. Baldwin
Look at me look at me
My soul is craving for your attention
Walk with me talk with me
I need to hear your soft voice again
Stare into my eyes as I stare into yours
Hug me with your strong arms
Make my heart sore
Love me love me
Be a good friend to me
Protect me connect with me
Show me you care for me
Stay with me play with me
Don’t ever leave me
I need you to free me
And give me back my mind, body, soul and, sanctity
come on just believe me
Trust me trust me
Please guide the internal me
Cuz I know you are you must be
Whats in my heart
My soul is craving for your attention
Walk with me talk with me
I need to hear your soft voice again
Stare into my eyes as I stare into yours
Hug me with your strong arms
Make my heart sore
Love me love me

And give me back my mind, body, soul and, sanctity

Please guide the internal me
Cuz I know you are you must be

POETRY: Bad Habits By Cheryl A. Baldwin
As I sit here alone.
......crying
Thinking "why!"
"Why is this happening to me?"
"Why cant I stop?"
Tears slowly drip drop down my face
and I sniffle........
Why cant I stop these unpure erges
These insane thoughts.......
Why must my heart be so weak
and sensitive........
Why am I so head strong
Yet internally broken.........
Lord why?
You build me up Lord
only for me to bring myself back down
Oh God please stop the devil from controling my mind
Carry my spirit with your heart Lord
Lord please bring back peace to me and everyone else in this irrational world
In jesus name i pray........
Amen.

POETRY: 'Crimson Ink' by Jazelle Handoush
Crimson Ink
by Jazelle Handoush
It was quiet where she worked
Scratch of pen
Ruffled wrinkled pages
Blackened blotches stained skin to elbow's edge
But black is not black.
Really red just so deep.
And it drained deathly by the drop.
As Typewriter took all within her.
The keys clattered and she shook,
but not an idle hour passed as
Fingertips flew for freedom
The story she told by type was not her own
Yet it lives as it is
By the forever fading ink
That brings life to pages
A breath which begins at covers bound
And ends at the word the same.
The words, created by this crimson ink
Gives life as it takes
She let her pen and page
Be the voice heard cry
But ran out of ink, no more
To write.

POETRY: 'Tik Tok' by Jazelle Handoush
Tik Tok
by Jazelle Handoush
365 days; the back and forth of
night and light, fight for
supremacy between sun and moon.
The literal revolution, spin and spiral,
As we come full circle in the turn of time.
Time.
Nonexistent until mentally measured.
Until we look back at the part of
Our past, most memorable, life threatening
Changes. Or our forward future, eventually
within reach yet for now beyond bounds.
We too often depend on the tick and
Tock of seconds, minutes, hours.
Our focus should be present.
The now.
Right here.
What do you hear, see, smell. What
Lies in your palm at this exact moment?
Memorize. In this moment, memorize.
For in the future, you’ll recall this past.
Perhaps I can change something in these
Minutes, as a butterfly creates disaster
Miles away. No, I don’t wish to create
Disaster, but perhaps something mind and moment
Altering. Don’t forget, I pray. For it seems
My time has lapsed.
Time.
Tik tok.
